How to choose a Mandarin-speaking nanny for your family

Compare Chinese-speaking childcare candidates by communication, relevant experience, working hours and household duties.

Describe the language you need

Ask for Mandarin, Cantonese or another language and explain when it will be used. Chinese nationality, Chinese heritage and Chinese language ability are different details. For a bilingual nanny, check each language separately.

Describe the children and the schedule

Share the ages and number of children, the daily hours and the support available from family members. Ask about experience with a similar age group and how the candidate handled competing tasks.

Define live-in or live-out arrangements

For live-in work, discuss accommodation and rest. For live-out work, agree arrival and departure times. School pickup, meals and night duties need their own discussion rather than being assumed.

Use everyday scenarios in the interview

Ask the candidate to explain a daily handover or how they would clarify an unfamiliar request. Include the people who will speak with them regularly. Assess communication directly rather than from a name or photograph.

Confirm the conditions before agreeing

Check the city, dates, duties, quote and replacement terms. Consult official local channels about applicable employment and work requirements. Ayi Zidian public profiles help you learn about a person; they do not confirm overseas work eligibility or availability.
